Whats the best grooming spray for my pomeranian to make him smell good?

We found this amazing spray called Earthbath deodorizing spritz with skin and coat conditioners, we have the Mango scent and we use it everyday to groom our little pomeranian. We spritz his coat with it, rub it in and then use a ferminator brush, then comb and terminator brush one more time. This is how much hair we get out during his puppy uglies.

What human foods are okay for my puppy?

Here a list of some foods that are okay for your dog or puppy to have.

  • Ice cubes ( great for hot days and source of water)
  • Carrots ( raw or cooked great to give your dog while they are teething great for them to chew on, we use carrots while grooming our pomeranian everyday)
  • A raw egg is okay in a small portion and once a week
  • Cooked egg
  • A couple of blueberries
  • Boiled chicken with rice
  • slivers of Raw steak or shrimp
  • a couple small pieces Lettuce
  • A small piece of imitation crab about half an inch in size

What is a great homemade treat to give to my puppy?

I found an amazing way to use up all my homemade chicken stock.

I baked a whole chicken and thought I should do something will all the bones, do I boiled them in pot of water with carrots and some lettuce.

I took the chicken stock and poured them into an egg carton and add some kibble and stuck it in the freezer.

Great frozen chicken stock with kibble treat for the puppy :)

Very shy/timid pomeranian Puppy

This is a post that we posted on the internet about Dolce,

“Today we went to pick out a pomeranian puppy and ended up putting a down payment on a gorgeous 6.5 week old. There was only one thing that has been bothering us, and we wanted to consult with the ‘experts’ since this is our first pet.
When we just walked in, it seems like the pup’s just woke up from napping, so they took a minute or two to rev up and get out of their corners. They were all bouncing around and wrestling within 10 minutes or so. The one we chose was not though. Whenever one of the other pup’s would bite him he would just walk away. He wouldn’t really give us attention at all. When we had the toy in our hands the other pups would almost ravage us, playfully, while he just sat looking around.

We could easily pet him and play with him without him being annoyed or anything, but he just wasn’t aggressive or dominant or self playful in any way. If I was describing a person I wouldn’t really call him shy, just more like timid, unreacting and a general auro of “I don’t really care whats going on around me”.

When we spent one on one time with him, after a bit of time he opened up slowly and started nibbling on the toys we would give and our fingers and licking them. But it would definitely go on and off.

The breeder said that this one is just shy. She said that they open up once they get used to you, but hes definitely just not dominant. She also said at 6.5 weeks hes still young, and considering they just got done weening him off the mom and its only been 3 days since. The other dogs seem just fine though.

We have no problem if hes not the alpha, or that he isn’t gonna be the most wired puppy out there, we are just worried with that he will never open up and will never wanna play or pay us any attention.”

Additional Details

Thank you for your responses!

Its just so hard to find any information on this. Anything that I search about it just leads to questions about it being not socialized and thats why its either 1. overly aggressive and biting or 2. running away and scared of everything. The thing is its neither! It just doesn’t doesn’t do any kind of playing. When a littermate starts biting it, it either turns away from him or starts walking away if hes doesn’t stop bothering him. I just always thought that healthy pups HAVE to wrestle. So does this mean he isn’t socialized and will have behavioral issues or that he might be completely normal but just laid back and not fighting personality?

The breeder just took them to the vet and everything checked out good. All her pups, including this one, are fully AKC registered, so she showed us his lineage. It seemed pretty impressive with 10′s of champions on both sides. Also I did meet the mom and dad, they were very calm and not aggressive

We got a couple replies stating he is what he is and that’s what his going to be. That was NOT the case. It turns out when we visited him he just got taken off his mother and he wasn’t introduced to toys like is other litter mates. We visited him a second time and brought him treats and a toy and it took him a little bit till he opened up, but eventually he would crawl in the corner of the couch and hid his face. I have included the replies below and then the actually ending to this story!!

  • Remember the old popeye song?it goes something like ;;;I am what I am and thats all that I am? this applies not only to kids people but pups too.

the breeder knows her dogs and the nature of the pups in the litter. if she tells you the pup is shy and laid back then this is what the pup is.. yes, the pup will become more responsive particularly since he will be the only pup you have and get lots of attention. and something about this pup appealed to you since YOU selected him from the bunch.

you will love him and he youu

  • Yep. Wait a little longer. 8 weeks. Then do this test:  http://www.apbt.info/tiki-index.php?page… It is geared towards power breeds but can certainly be used on just about any breed of puppy.
  • TT

When you get the puppy, just socialize him very well. Introduce him to all sorts of people, children, dogs, and new places. He nay never be a very outgoing dog, but that does not mean he has any problems. However, did you meet the puppies parents? I would want to meet the mother and father to be sure that it’s not something genetic.
  • Yes. This, unfortunately, is not the right kind of puppy temperament for a first time dog owner.
It’s wonderful when they ome out of their shell but it could take ages, or never happen. You need an easy-going happy puppy as your first. If committed seek the advice of trainers who are used to the breed. Take to a vet befre bringing home. Have a return option in place.

Read the article on Calming Signals and see if he understands them with other dogs and from you. It should be hard wired into them so that they can get alon.

  • I had a pomeranian and he was just like the one you described. He was very shy, but grew up to be the most loving, sweet, adoring, and adorable dog I’ve ever had. He liked it when I held him and treated him gently and lovingly. We forged a bond that, to me, is priceless. If you are the sensitive type, then this new puppy you have is the right dog for you. Good luck.

Well this is what you have all been waiting for, when we took him home he opened up and changed so much he did a 180. Now he loves us, he cant stop playing with his toys, he is so excited around people and they mention how he is like the energizer bunny because he is full of energy, he loves being pet and cuddles :) he also loves to give licks and kisses. I truly think that your puppy will become what you want it to be accordingly to how you train and treat them.

Why is my pomeranian bitting his back paws??

At around 9 weeks we notices that our pomeranian would scratch his ears or his back and instantly after start biting his paw that he scratched with. We thought maybe he got flees or tics or maybe something could be wrong with him. After searching online and finding nothing we called the breeder whom we bought him from and explained the situation. She simply stated that he was just discovering his back paws. Let me tell you we were relieved that was the case. She also told us that next he would start discovering his tail. Sure enough at 11 weeks old our pomeranian starting to bit his tail and eventually at 12 weeks till this day he loves to chase his tail :)
